Thanks for this awesome article mate. As you noted, a train zooming past while you're in standstill traffic is a great advertisement for public transport. Unfortunately they've since had maintenance issues and "slow zones" that mean the trains now go even slower than the car traffic, completely killing their own messaging, but hopefully they fix that soon.
Visiting Perth in 2003, I wanted to go from Fremantle to southern Mandurah. I needed to take four buses and figured I would get lunch between buses. The buses were so well integrated that there was no opportunity to get lunch.
Also, to a Melburnian the existence of the Mandurah line seems like magic.
